From what it looks like right now- on a hot streak, power numbers around baseball down, and the Nationals securely out of contention, Adam Dunn could be the biggest prize of the baseball trade season, the hitting equivalent to Cliff Lee. Word now comes from the Twitter of ESPNs Buster Olney that there may be no real attempt by the Nationals to re-sign the 30 year old slugger.
Heard this: Would-be free agent Adam Dunn has just about lost interest in working out a long-term deal with the Nationals because of what he perceives to be a lack of urgency from [...]

Break Out The Brooms
The Nationals managed to complete their first sweep of the Marlins in nearly two seasons with another wild come from behind win today. In two of the three games, the Marlins led going into the 8th inning only to see the Nats put up some big numbers to take the lead. Here are some quick observations from this series:
The Nationals now have a season high 5 game winning streak and are currently 11-11 since the All Star Break
Ryan Zimmerman went 5-8 with 2 home runs and four RBIs in his two games played during the series. No stranger to hitting [...]
Last Friday, approximately 19 minutes before the trade deadline expired, the Washington Nationals traded first baseman Nick Johnson to the Florida Marlins for minor league RHP Aaron Thompson. At first, it’s easy to see why the Nationals parted ways with Johnson. He is a contact hitter at a premium power position who brings little more than above average defense to the table. Sure it was hard to see the last remaining Montreal Expo get forced out of town but the Nationals need better production offensively at first base. Luckily for them, they have Adam Dunn who’s large frame and explosive [...]
Let’s Make A Deal?
With the trade deadline approaching fast, the Nationals, despite being as far from contention as a team can get, appears to be quiet as of now. One might argue that the Nationals are so bad that they don’t have any players of value but that’s not the case. There are actually a handful of players on this roster that could be an integral part to a contender’s postseason push.
Josh Willingham OF
The most valuable player as of right now has to be outfielder Josh Willingham who has been absolutely on fire as of late. He’s got good power for a corner [...]
Mother Nature Strikes Again
So it appears that the weather has a serious vendetta against the Nationals and Cardinals. In Thursday’s rescheduled contest from a May 3rd rainout, the Nats and Cards only managed to go a rain shortened six innings before finally throwing in the towel. Despite giving the Nationals every opportunity to win by keeping Albert Pujols out of the lineup, the Cardinals still managed to win 4-1 in the abbreviated affair. Collin Balester, in his first start of the season, never really got things going, only managing to make it through 3 innings before Jim Riggleman turned to the bullpen. His [...]
With this being the first post in this blog and the season is already halfway over, it’s only fitting that we take the time to sum up what we’ve missed. I’ve assembled a list of ten things that can explain the disaster that can only be known as the 2009 Nationals season. So without further sugar coating, here it goes.
10. Lastings Milledge: All Star?
When will Bud Selig finally realize that fan voting will never give us a true All Star Game? Well apparently, fans of a popular Boston Red Sox message board called The Sons of Sam Horn decided to [...]
