Matt Capps joins the Nationals

Posted by: Alex Murphy

After talks went late into the night on Wednesday, Matt Capps is joining the Nationals.

The RHP  is signing a one year contract as a closer for the team as long as he can pass a January physical. There is still some question about the exact deal, although ESPN is now reporting it is a $3.5 million deal with a good performance incentive of $425,000.

Capps was being courted by many teams and it came down to the Cubs or Washington.

Capps entire career thus far has been spent with the Pirates and most recently had a 5.09 ERA last season.

I’m sure more info will continue to leak.
